Mini Gold Nutcrackers

We were never great at painting small wooden items or ceramics as kids and we certainly haven’t gotten any better as adults. But you don’t have to be a pro to paint these tiny nutcrackers!

Recently we came across a set of six raw wood mini nutcrackers at Hobby Lobby... and at first glance, they were a bit intimidating. Memories of painting with toothpicks and uneven lines came to mind and we quickly scrapped the “let‘s paint some mini nutcrackers” idea! That is until we saw Elle (aka Crafterward’s) colorful set! She painted her nutcrackers solid colors and they turned out amazing! So we decided to give it a go!

For our set, we used gold metallic paint and a glitter sheet (you can find it near the felt sheets at your local craft store). We painted the entire nutcracker and left it to dry.

Next, we cut out cuffs and a crown from the glitter sheet, and used hot glue to adhere the embellishments.

And that’s it! You can turn your tiny soldiers into ornaments by adding some twine, or wrap it in ribbon and use as a gift topper (like we did above). Endless possibilities with this one! Be sure to tag us and show us how you use them!
